How to Use Your Lippan Art Kit

Before you start (2–3 min)

• Protect your table with newspaper or plastic sheets. It will prevent your table getting stained or painted.
• Wipe the MDF with a dry cloth to remove dust.
• The next thing would be sorting the mirrors by size so that placing them would be easier.

After the Arrangements 

1) Prep the board (2 minutes)

• Wipe off dust.
• Optional: put masking tape around the edges for a clean border.

2) Place the mirrors :

• Dry-arrange to check spacing (start from the centre, then move out).
• Add a small dot of glue under each mirror and press.
• Wipe any extra glue right away.

3) Mix the clay (Mouldit)

• Take equal amounts of Resin and Hardener (same-size pieces).
• Rub a little talc/petroleum jelly on your hands (so it doesn't stick).
• Knead 2-3 minutes until it becomes one uniform colour (no streaks).
• Work in small batches (walnut-size).
• Usable time: 45-60 minutes after mixing. Full cure in 24 hours.

4) Make coils and lines

• Roll thin coils (3-4 mm) on baking paper or a plastic sheet.
• Brush a thin layer of glue on the board where a coil will sit (for better grip).
• Place coils along the pre-marked lines and around mirrors.
• Smooth joins with a slightly damp finger or brush.

5) Add dots & details

• Pinch tiny balls from clay and press for dots/beads.
• Keep designs simple: borders around mirrors, petals, paisleys, leaves.

6) Clean as you go

• If clay touches a mirror, let it dry and then remove gently with a cotton bud or toothpick.
• Neaten edges with a lightly damp brush.

7) Dry/Cure

• Keep the board flat, away from direct fan/sun.
• Touch-hard in 2-3 hours; fully set in 24 hours.

8) Paint

• Use thin coats of acrylic paint (2 light coats look best).
• Avoid mirrors; if paint gets on them, let it dry and wipe/scrape off.

9) Seal (optional)

• Apply a clear matte/satin varnish over the painted clay only (not on mirrors).
